School of Humanities
Overview
School of Humanities has grown from what was known as the Politics Office in 1950, one of the oldest offices in Dalian University of Technology, to an institution with 139 faculty members and an enrollment of 2253 degree candidates, including undergraduate and graduate students. It adopted its current name in 2010.
School of Humanities plays a leading role in Northeast China in humanities and social sciences teaching and academic research, making it a significant contributor to the local government decision-making. There are excellent teaching and research facilities on its campus, including several education and research bases of ministerial and provincial levels and teaching and research centers. It offers a wide array of degree-granting undergraduate programs, 2 master’s degree programs, 1 doctoral degree programs and a Postdoctoral Research Station for Philosophy. Now it has over 10 thousand alumni.
School of Humanities has now established long-term stable collaboration with universities in the United States, the Netherlands, Germany, Belgium, India, South Korea, Japan and Chinese Taiwan.

Faculty and Staff
Currently, there is an academic and administrative staff of 10 professors, 24 associate professors, 10 lecturers and 5 assistant professors, along with 16 support staff, 80% of whom have doctoral degrees.
School of Humanities has a proud tradition of intellectual vigor with its eminent and passionate staff highly ranked in the education practice. Now the School of Humanities has 10 Chair Professors and Distinguished Professors, and it still has an overriding interest in teacher education and training and attracting to its community the most eminent scholars and teachers worldwide.
International Cooperation
Overview
School of Humanities provides its staff and students with a wide range of international opportunities to equip them with a broad international vision. It has established partnership with overseas universities, set up several inter-university exchange programs. It invites overseas scholars over to give lectures and encourages staff members to attend international conferences and visit other countries as academic visitors. School of Humanities also welcomes students throughout the world. Now there is a big international student population on its campus, including students from Australia, Russia, South Korea, Japan, Vietnam and Algeria.

Grants and Scholarships
School of Humanities offers a number of grants and scholarships which could be broadly categorized as follows:
Entrance Scholarship for Undergraduate Students
Geared to attract local and non-local students pursuing full-time undergraduate degrees, it is awarded on the basis of students' academic performance at Entrance Examination for admission to DUT.
Outstanding Student Scholarships
They are awarded to undergraduates who excel in academic or non-academic pursuits during their studies, including scholarships for outstanding students in academic area, research, social practice and arts and sports.
Graduate Scholarship
Offered by the national government to those who have the best overall performance in the exams for admissions to university, it aims at attracting excellent students to pursue their study for master’s degree and help them enhance their research abilities.
National Scholarship for Graduate Students
It is granted by the national government to intellectually dynamic graduate students with demonstrated academic and research abilities and achievements.
DUT Financial Assistance
It is available for both undergraduates and graduates from poor economic background, aiming at freeing them from financial constraints.
Scholarships for International Students
International students studying in School of Humanities, both undergraduates and graduates, can apply for different scholarships, including National Scholarship, Liaoning Government Scholarship, Confucius Institute Scholarship and DUT Scholarship. Scholarships can help cover part of tuition, accommodation and supply monthly living allowance (ranging from RMB 1,500 to RMB 2,000).
